Begin Again - Measure

Song of The Month!

Begin Again
by Measure

Considering the new year, I thought sharing this song would be appropriate. I actually stumbled upon it while I was listening to completely different music, but I'm really glad that I did.

The band, Measure, are an electro-pop band from New York. Until I heard this song I had never listened to Measure before, but this song is absolutely beautiful and I just had to share it with you, especially considering what a great message this song sends. It's quite slow and emotional, but it's also very inspirational.

This song is all about not getting stuck in the past and moving forward with your life, instead of waiting on other people, which I think is a message a lot of people need. Sometimes it's hard to move on after terrible, or emotionally draining things happen, so sometimes people need to be reminded that you aren't defined by your hardships and that there are still better days to come. All you have to do is move on and let it happen, instead of focusing on the things that make you sad.

Since stumbling upon this song, I've been listening to more of Measure's songs and I would definitely recommend checking them out! They have some really inspiring songs, so check them out if you've got the chance. I will hopefully be putting up a band review with more information on them soon, but until then, here's a link to their Bandcamp page.

One Love - Marianas Trench

Song of The Month!

One Love
by Marianas Trench

For the last month or so I've been listening to Marianas Trench nonstop, so I decided to put up one of my favourite songs from their newest album Astoria, as the Song of The Month. This song is called One Love, which was the first single released from the new album. I love Josh Ramsay's voice and this song is a great example of why. It's a really beautiful song and if you haven't already, I definitely recommend it! This is a slightly slower, sadder song than a lot of the other songs on the album, but it's really good.
Anyways, check out the song! Are there any Marianas Trench fans out there? I'd love to hear what you think of the new album!

The Pretender - Foo Fighters

Song of The Month!

The Pretender
by Foo Fighters

I know I haven't posted anything else this month, so I apologize for that. I'll officially be done with school this year in three days, which means I'll be back to making scheduled posts after that. Since next month will be Christmas, I'll try to post as often as possible, but I'm not sure how busy I'll be and therefore I'm not sure how much I'll be able to post.
In any case, I decided to put The Pretender as the Song of The Month for several reasons. The first simply being that it's by Foo Fighters. They are an amazing band, which I've been a fan of since I was young because my mother always loved them, so I figured it was about time I put up something about them. Another reason I love the band is because when it came to Dave Grohl it sort of became a way to see how he dealt with everything after Nirvana and how he's grown and changed.
I chose The Pretender specifically because I remember quite vividly when it first came out. My mother and I watched the music video on MTV, watching as everything exploded and just came to life, red splattering everywhere. I don't really know why that is something I remember, but I always loved this video for some reason. It was a relevant song then and it's a relevant song now, so I figured why not?
Besides, The Pretender is no. 1 on Kerrang!'s 101 Most Definitive Party Classics, so it's only appropriate to share it with more people. I think everyone should hear this song at least once in their lives, so if you haven't already, you should listen to this great song!

Bloodstream - Stateless

Song of The Month!

Bloodstream
by Stateless

I just really like this song a the moment. There is literally no other reason.
*shrug*
You've probably heard it before, but if you haven't just check it out! It's a great song, which I think a lot of people already like and if you listen to it, you'll understand why.
It's not exactly a new song, but it's good, so you should listen to it!

Kiss It All Better - He Is We

Song of The Month!

Kiss It All Better
By He Is We

This month has been another shitty one for the blog, but I'm trying to fix that this week and next week. Anyway, I should probably warn you that this song is really sad. The meaning is pretty obvious once you hear it; it's about a man who is sitting in his jail cell, remembering the night a man shot the love of his life and dropped the gun. He then picked up the gun and shot the guy who killed his love.
It's really sad, but it's also beautiful.
In any case, as usual, I encourage you to listen to the song and check out He Is We, since a lot of their stuff is really good. I hope you like the song, it's really quite fantastic and emotional.

Dance with the Devil - Breaking Benjamin

Song of The Month!

Dance with the Devil
By Breaking Benjamin

First of all, I think I should start out by apologizing to everyone who were hoping for something non-fandom related. I've been watching the Vampire Diaries again, as of late and I've always loved this song. Me being the total fangirl I am, listened to plenty of playlists online about the Vampire Diaries, their characters and relationships in the show. I came across this video, which I think was done very well, about Damon and Elena, and Klaus and Caroline. If you're into the Vampire Diaries, you'll probably love the video, because it was done really well. If you don't like the Vampire Diaries, I'd still at least listen to the video, because this song on it's own is brilliant.
I've always loved Breaking Benjamin and their music, but I haven't been as drawn in by their music lately, until I heard some of their songs on playlists. I honestly love their music and it can usually be interpreted in a number of ways, but they're always good to listen to.
Anyway, check out the song! And if you like it, you should check out Breaking Benjamin's other music!

Sound of Your Heart - Shawn Hook

Song of The Month!

Sound of Your Heart
By Shawn Hook

I heard this song for the first time the other day, which is the first I've ever heard of Shawn Hook. I've listened to a few of his songs since, which I'm proud to say are also awesome. I figured I should share this song though, since it was the first I heard of his, it's the most recently released and it is honestly an amazing song. I don't know much about Shawn Hook or his music yet, but I think if you want some catchy love songs, you should definitely check him out.
I don't have much more to say about it at this stage, except that I love his voice and I hope you do, too. I'll definitely be researching more into him and listening to his music more often, so maybe I'll post a review about him one day.
In the mean time, I think everyone should check out his music and see what you think! His music is catchy and much more pop than what I usually listen to, but it's still some amazing songs.

Just Like You - Falling in Reverse

Song of The Month!

Just Like You
by Falling in Reverse

First of all, this song is amazing and the video is pretty funny. Ronnie Radke, the lead vocalist, has come under a lot of criticism and by default so has Falling in Reverse, but honestly I don't really care what kind of people they are - I care about what their music sounds like. Their newest album, also called Just Like You, is actually pretty good.
Anyway, that's beside the point. This song is ... actually I'm not even sure how to explain it. It's catchy and pretty sarcastic, really. Then when you get to the chorus, you get hooked and it's one of those songs that get you pumped, even though the song's kind of insulting. Then, if you watch the music video, it's pretty funny. They take the piss of The Voice, so that's always gonna be entertaining. There's also an extended version of the music video, which is a full minute longer and is pretty much just a "before the show" sort of thing. It's honestly worth listening to, because one way or another it's gonna put you in a better mood.

Do we have any Falling in Reverse fans out there?

Stressed Out - Twenty One Pilots

Song of The Month!

Stressed Out
by Twenty One Pilots

I first heard of Twenty One Pilots last year, which is sad, really. I wish I'd known them earlier. They're music is amazing! They only have two members; Tyler Joseph, who is the lead vocals, pianist and songwriter (among other things - the dude is insanely talented!) and Josh Dun, who plays drums (and reminds me of Jon Bernthal). The band was formed in 2009 and currently have four albums out, one of which only came out in May this year.
This song is from their newest album, Blurryface. This is a brilliant song from a brilliant album, which I think everyone should check out. Anyway, if you wanna buy the album, you can buy it on iTunes here.

Sorry for so few posts this month again and hopefully the Dwarf will be able to post again some day soon.

Day of the Dead - Hollywood Undead

Song of The Month!

Day of the Dead
by Hollywood Undead

First of all, I'm really sorry for not posting much this month. It's been a hard month here for me, so I haven't been able to post myself and the others have been quite busy. I will be back to posting as much as possible from next week onward.
In any case, Hollywood Undead recently released their new album Day of the Dead. Due to this, I figured I should share this amazing song with you. If you liked the previous post we did on them, I'm sure you'll enjoy listening to their new songs, too.
Anyway, it's a very catchy song, so you should definitely at least give it a go! I will be posting a band review on Hollywood Undead some time soon, not sure when, so if you like their songs, but don't know much about them yet, keep an eye out! I hope you all enjoy this song and check out their new album!

Boom - P.O.D

Song of The Month!

Boom
by P.O.D

Alright, first off, sorry it's me again. The Dwarf couldn't do the Song of The Month this month, so I'm doing it instead, again.
Anyway, this month I've decided to do Boom by P.O.D as the SoTM, though in all honesty it isn't one of my favourite songs. I've just had it stuck in my head for about a week...
SO, if I have to go down this deep dark rabbit hole, I'm gonna take a few of you with me.
Boom is actually pretty old, having been released in 2002, but a lot of the people I know still remember it. Honestly, I only remembered it because of the video, so check it out. For some reason my brothers have been playing this a lot lately, hence me getting it stuck in my head, so I just had to share it.
It's not a bad song, but I've never really seen why everyone thought it was so good either... I still think it's worth a listen.
Anyone else remember this song, or the video?

Good Boy - GD & Taeyang

Song of the Month!

Good Boy
By GD & Taeyang
Although a lot of people have been criticizing how different Good Boy is from their previous music, I think GD & Taeyang's latest hit is still worth listening to. If you don't understand what their saying, here are the English lyrics; http://www.kpoplyrics.net/ . I'm sure I already told you about my love for G-Dragon in one of the other Song of the Month posts, but I'm just going to say it again; I loooooove him! He is amazing and so is Taeyang!
I mean, it's G-Dragon and Taeyang of Big Bang; they're K-Pop legends.
Anyway, I love this song, it's so catchy and fun to listen to. It's upbeat and the video is so cool to watch, so check it out! Give it a go!

Smooth Sailing - Queens of the Stone Age

Song of the Month!

Better late than never, the song of the month is here! Smooth Sailing is a kick ass song to listen to when you want to empowered. Just try listening to this sick jam while walking anywhere and you'll really feel the difference in your stride. Queens of the Stone Age know how to make people feel bad ass, so try they're other songs too! This song may not be new, but it is by far, my favorite song for this month. What's yours?

Uptown Funk - Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

Song of the Month!

If you haven't heard this song, you damn well better listen to it now! It's a brilliant song that has pretty much taken over the world, for a good reason. Honestly, it's just such a feel good song, that you just have to love it!
Firstly, Mark Ronson is brilliant in his own right, but I think being partnered up with Bruno Mars for this song made it perfect! They're both very, very talented and I think together they made this song as good as they possibly could have.
I love Bruno Mar's style. He just has this swagger about him that makes him someone you want to hang with. He seems to have this magnetic personality and it shows through to his music, which just makes it all the better to listen to. I love how his music sorta sounds old fashioned, but with a modern twist. His music is very catchy and unique, which you can easily hear, it sets him apart from other artists.
Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars made this song one that won't be forgotten anytime soon.
If you haven't already listened to this song, do it now!
What are everyone's favourite songs by either of them?

Rise Up - Vincent Steele, Michael Woodenbridge & Nine One One

Song of the Month!

Rise Up

By Vincent Steele, Michael Woodenbridge & Nine One One

I'm sorry guys, the Dwarf was supposed to be posting this month, but she couldn't for some reason. Guess you'll have to deal with me, again.
As you all should know, if you checked my last post, I'm currently in love with the TV series; 'The 100.' Due to my slightly skew fangirl mind, I've become slightly obsessed with this song because of that. Rise Up was used in The 100's season two trailer, and after I heard it on there, I just had to hear it again.
It's an amazing song, though strangely not in a genre I usually listen to. Oh well, if it's good, it's good. If you're a fan of The 100, I'm sure you'll love this song. It's all about coming up again after you've fallen down, which is exactly what the 100 (I'm talking about the group of people this time, not the show itself) need to be doing this season. [SPOILER?] After the battle with the Grounders last season, they need to rise up again and start over.
Personally, I think this song is absolutely perfect for the 100 because of everything they've been through and how hard they keep working to survive.
Plus, if you're like me, any good motivational song is great to listen to when you need to do something. So, fangirls/boys and procrastinators alike, here's a song I hope will get your blood pumping.
Anyone else know of some great songs that remind you of The 100?

Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran

Song of the Month!

Thinking Out Loud
By Ed Sheeran

I don't even know why exactly this is my favourite song right now, it just is. It's beautiful, it's cute and I love it. The part where he goes, "And the crowds don't remember my name," I immediately just like died a little inside, but in a good way (is there a good way? I dunno). I just love his voice so much and he always writes such amazing songs. I hope everyone checks this song out, like right now. It's just so beautiful.

Not to mention the video is adorable and the dancing. The dancing. I just... I can not even begin to explain how happy this video made me. They're literally just dancing around, but I just love it so, so much. This makes me so happy, I hope it does the same for you. It's brilliant, so I really hope you listen to the song, watch the video and spread the word like wild fire. It's so amazing.

Anyway, that's all I've got, really. Hope you enjoyed. Now, what did you all think?

Seven Nation Army - Glitch Mob Remix

Song Of The Month!

Seven Nation Army Remix
By The Glitch Mob

Oh my god, this song makes my ears have babies. Well, not literally, but you get the idea. This is one of my favourite songs, originally by the White Stripes, but remixed by the Glitch Mob. Another one of my favourite bands. It's more of an electric/dubstep kind of genre, compared to the White Stripe's rock version of the song.

After an hour of running/walking, this song makes you feel like an assassin, or a superhero running to your next target and doesn't everyone think that's one of the best feelings to have?
I think so, so check it out!

Undead - Hollywood Undead

Song of the Month!

Undead
By Hollywood Undead
Alright, this isn't like the other music we've posted, but we like almost all genres, so whatever. This is not a new song, but it is one of the first Hollywood Undead songs I ever heard, so I'd like to share it with you.
Fair warning though, before you click play you should keep in mind that they have very explicit lyrics for pretty much all of their songs, so if that isn't your thing - STEER CLEAR.
If you don't like rap metal or alternative rock,  then they are not for you, otherwise press play.
The Dwarf and I discovered Hollywood Undead at 3 in the morning, at a sleepover a few years ago. We were searching up bands, clicking on the first album that showed up, not paying much attention to what they were, until we heard Hollywood Undead. At first we sat in silence, not really sure how to react, but after that we were playing their albums on repeat, singing along at the top of our lungs.
Their music isn't for everyone, but for those of us who join the Undead Army, it's brilliant. It means something, it sounds amazing, it gets your blood pumping and it's completely straight up - no bull.
If you know you like this type of music, I definitely recommend it. If you aren't sure if you like this kind of music, be brave and at least give it a chance. Undead isn't their best song ever, in my opinion, so if you don't like this one, don't immediately assume all of their music is the same - it's not. If you know you don't like this kind of music, I won't hold it against you if you don't like them, but I hope you at least have the guts to listen to a few of their songs before you say they aren't any good.
Plus, if The Elder or Merlin hear you, they'll probably throttle you.
Anyway, give it a go! You might find a whole new genre you enjoy.

Time In A Bottle - Jim Croce

Song Of The Month!

Time In A Bottle

By Jim Croce

It's not new, it's not pop and it's not on any FM radio. In fact, the only way I actually found this song is by hearing it on the new X-Men movie, Days of Future Past. Even if the song is old, and nowhere near the usual music I listen to, when both the beautiful chords and lyrics hit my ears I couldn't resist hearing the song over and over.
Give the song a go, you won't regret it.

Overdose - EXO

Song of the Month!

Overdose
By EXO

This is EXO's new single; Overdose. I know not everyone loves K-pop, but I certainly do. The Dwarf has had an ear full about EXO and other K-pop groups that I like, but I really wanted to share this song with you guys because it's amazing! The video is uhm... interesting. Okay, I have to admit, when I saw this for the first time, I thought it was a little weird. I heard the song before I saw the video, so trust me it was not what I was expecting. Their dancing is still AMAZING, but I dunno, parts were just weird in my opinion. I still highly recommend listening to this song and supporting EXO.

I hadn't been keeping up with EXO until recently and found out that Kris has apparently left the group. I'm not sure if it's permanent or if he's just on hiatus for a while, but I hope, whatever happens, that the fans still support all twelve members and I wish the best of luck to all of them in what they do now.

I also recommend you all listen to their new mini album; Overdose, which they released on May 7th 2014. It has six songs on it;
1. Overdose - 3:25
2. Moonlight - 4:26
3. Thunder - 3:13
4. Run - 3:37
5. Love, Love, Love - 3:55
6. Overdose (EXO version) - 3:55
All of which are really good, though personally I really like 'Love, Love, Love' as girly as that sounds...

I hope you guys liked this song and all the other songs we've put up for 'Song of the Month'. If anyone has suggestions for new songs or bands, please comment or e-mail us!
What do you guys think about their dance moves?
