The Losers Review

The Losers (2010)

Description:
The Losers is an action as well as comedy film based off the comic by Andy Diggle and Jock. It follows an elite Black-ops team that includes five men, each with their own specific talent. They are:
Lt. Col. Franklin Clay- Operational control.
Cpt. William Roque- Demo & Tactics
Cpt. Jake Jensen- Comms & Tech
Sgt. Linwood 'Pooch' Porteous- Transport & Heavy Weapons
And finally Sgt. Carlos 'Cougar' Alvarez- Long range eliminations.
The movie starts with the team in Bolivia, where they must destroy a compound run by a drug lord, until Cougar spots children on the premises. After Clay attempts to stop the plane that is about to drop the bomb he finds out that an unknown man by the name of Max is controlling it, and does not care for the children, so instead the team runs in and saves them, whilst killing the Drug lord. Once they get back to the helicopter they are unable to fit both them and the kids, so it's them, but as it begins to fly off it gets hit by a missile fired by Max. The losers are left in the ruins of ash and corpses that Clay stated "should have been them" knowing that they fake their deaths, forcing them to be stranded in Bolivia. After four months of being all most broke and homeless, Clay finds Aisha, a woman who has some information on Max, and she assists them on a new mission- to find Max and get revenge. This leads to twists and turns, lots of shooting, and a hilarious adventure.

The Dwarf's Review:
I enjoyed The Losers, it's rare to see an action film that includes so many genuinely funny quotes. It was also nice to see a few familiar faces, like Chris Evans (Captain America/Steve Rogers) & Jeffery Dean Morgan (John Winchester). The film didn't cover the entire comic but I believe that's a good thing, (WARNING: Comic Spoilers) In the comic most of the team die, in truly awful and depressing ways, so If they included that in the movie it would be Bridge to Terabithia all over again, and nobody would want that. Over all the movie was great, I certainly recommend everybody to watch it, but that's just my opinion. What did you think?
That's all folks! Ciao!

Given Up - Linkin Park

Song of The Month!

Given Up
By Linkin Park

This is a lyric video for one of my favourite Linkin Park songs; Given Up. A lot like some of the earlier Linkin Park songs like "In The End" the main theme is of a person who feels alienated and desperate. My favourite part in the song is when Chester Bennington screams for around 17 seconds. Many states in America have a Lincoln Park. Because of that a lot of people believed they were a local band when they toured in those states. They are actually named after the Lincoln Park in their home town of Santa Monica, California. I love Linkin Park because all their songs are different, interesting and tell a story. They have a unique style of Rap, Rock and Electronic in one with Mike, Chester and Joseph. Also, they always send a message in their songs. They don't really sing about being in love, romance or happiness, they sing more about what happens after when that gets taken from you. Not many bands do that sort of music and become successful, but they did and I admire them for that. Linkin Park is amazing.
Are there any other Linkin Park fans out there? What do you guys think about Given Up? Comment what you think!

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009)

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Movie Information

The MacManus brothers are living a quiet life, on a farm in Ireland - with their father, but after learning that their beloved priest has been murdered by mob members - and "The Saints" are framed - they go back to Boston to bring justice to those responsible and avenge the priest. With their new pal Romeo, they shred up mobsters and return to their old habits of being chased by the FBI, but this time by a new detective.

My Review

I loved the first movie and the second was exactly what I'd been waiting for. If watching two guys swing from ropes through a window with guns blazing and then continue on to slide across the floor on their knees killing everything in sight isn't your kind of movie, then that's fine. But that's exactly what I love about it, it doesn't have a majorly deep story line or anything like that, it's just two guys shooting all the bad guys and being stupid about it. I'd love to see a third in the series.
If there's anything you'd like to say, please comment! Anyone else hoping for a third?

Silent Hill (2006)

Silent Hill (2006)

Description:
Silent Hill is a horror film, based off the Silent Hill game series created by Konami. The film follows a woman named Rose, the mother of adopted child named Sharon, whom she attempts to drive out to the mysterious place called Silent Hill, a town Sharon talks about in her sleep. Unfortunately, on Roses way there she ends up in an accident, leaving her unconscious only to awaken to Sharon missing from the front seat; while Rose is looking for her daughter, she uncovers secrets about her child's past forcing her to explore further into the town, whilst things lurk in the shadows, waiting for the darkness to come.

The Dwarf's Review:
In my personal opinion, Silent Hill is one of the best horrors I've actually seen story wise. The way the film has been put together makes you stay on the edge of your seat the majority of the time because of that fear you get when your certain that another creature is going to grab Rose from behind and hurt, and probably even kill her in the most gruesome ways. Although this movie has very good high points, the whole thing was not wrapped up in the most pleasant of ways, no one really understands what happens, you sit down afterwards wondering 'was that it?'
But I guess that's what made people want to go see the second one so bad, but that's another review.
What did you guys think about the end?
Until next time folks, Ciao!

The Boondock Saints (1999)

(From left to right)
Murphy's right hand with the tattoo "AEGUITAS" which means "justice"
and Conner's left hand with the tattoo "VERITAS" which means "truth"

The Boondock Saints (1999)

Movie InformationTwo Catholic men from Boston kill two Russian mob members, in self-defence. After the incident the two men, brothers Conner and Murphy MacManus, feel as though they are doing God's will and start massacring many members of the Russian mob, who they see as evil. After killing a bunch of them, they are dubbed "The Saints" by the Boston Herald.

Through out the movie, they are being chased by FBI agent Paul Smecker and run in to many obstacles involving the agent and their long time friend Rocco, an Italian Mafia package boy.

My Review
The Boondock Saints was a brilliant movie, though it wasn't one of the best movies I've ever seen, it left me wanting to see what happens next (and BTW, The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day, is a great continuation). Though the story over all is quite violent, it's also quite funny. I'm not going to lie, it's not the best but it's still a very enjoyable movie and I honestly loved it! Many others haven't, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but the movie is filled with action, comedy, and just plain idiocy. I loved it and I would love to see a third in the series because the second movie was also amazing.
If there's anything you'd like to say about it, please comment! Have you seen the movie? What did you think?
