Flashback Friday

Deacon Blue (1985)

Formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1985, Deacon Blue are a pop-rock band that really began their climb to fame in 1987, after releasing their debut album Raintown. They've released a total of seven studio albums and a studio/compilation album, many of which have been at the top of the UK album charts.
Their first album peaked at No. 14 on the UK album charts and even managed to stay on the charts for a year and a half. After that, the band only seemed to become more successful. Their next album When the World Knows Your Name was their most successful album, reaching the No. 1 spot in the UK albums chart. The album after that, Fellow Hoodlums, managed to reach the No. 2 spot. The one after that, Whatever You Say, Say Nothing, reached No. 4.
Although the band began to work part-time after that, they have still released and continue to release some amazing albums.

(Note: I've decided not to include their Compilation albums, their Live album or any of their Greatest Hits albums, just because that would take forever to write out.)

Either way, if you want to listen to or find any more of their songs, they're relatively easy to find online. I personally haven't heard that many of their songs, mostly just the hits, but they're a good band with a good sound and I would certainly recommend checking them out for yourself!

Hollywood Undead (2005)

From left to right; Funny Man, Charlie Scene, J-Dog, Danny, Da Kurlzz and Johnny 3 Tears.

Hollywood Undead

Hollywood Undead are one of my favourite bands and the band that all of my friends and I fan over. My siblings and I all love their music and are always listening to them. They are an American rap rock band from Los Angeles, California that formed in 2005. They have six members who all go by stage names, although you can easily find out their real names online, each wearing their own unique mask. They change their masks every few years, usually when a new album comes out, but it's just a variation of the previous mask, so it's not hard to tell who is who after you learn what their mask is.
In any case, my friends and I all love Hollywood Undead, so since I posted one of their songs as the song of the month, I figured I should do a band review. Although I love the band, I'm aware not everyone does and some of their songs are quite explicit or can be offensive, so you can check them out at your own risk.

The band's sound has changed a lot over the years, but they still have a lot of unbelievably good songs with deep meaning, as well as songs that easily energize you and get you moving. They have an amazing sound and brilliant voices to go with it, so you should check them out and see what you think!

Ocean Grid (2013)

Ocean Grid
Ocean Grid are a post-hardcore, metalcore band formed in January 2013 in Cincinnati, Ohio. It's been fairly difficult for me to find information on these guys, and believe me, I have tried. In fact, I spoke to one of their vocalists, Andrew Isler to clear things up, but then right before I wrote this review, somehow all the messages were deleted! *sigh*
So, I apologize in advance if I missed any info out.

The band consists of:
Andrew Isler - Vocals
Dustin Kidwell - Vocals
Brad Kaufman - Guitar
Danny Daugherty - Guitar
Greg Gonzales(or Donald Allen on here) - Bass
Zak Nova - Drums

So far, they have an EP called Ambitions;
1. "Intro" - 1:45
2. "Resilience" - 3:29
3. "Ambitions" - 3:15
4. "Run from the Vices" - 3:43
5. "Second Chances" - 3:52
6. "A Life Worth Living" - 4:31

and they have two singles;

1. "Words to Live By" - 3:24
2. "Mind Over Monsters" - 3:55

which were both officially released in September 2014.

Now, onto the actual review! Personally, I enjoy listening to Ocean Grid. Alongside sounding great, their music also sends great messages and not only that, from what I can tell their band members are very friendly. Their most recent song, Mind Over Monsters, is definitely my favourite. On their Facebook page, they actually posted it in honour of Suicide Awareness Day, which I think is an amazing thing to do. They've so far been very successful, especially considering they aren't even two years old yet.
Just check them out on YouTube or on ReverbNation and see what you think of them.

I don't really have much else to say, but give 'em a go and see what you think.
Tell me what you think! Who do you think we should do a band review on next?

P.S. Really sorry about how long this one took. I meant to do it over a month ago :(

EXO (2011)

EXO

EXO are an amazing South Korean-Chinese boy band produced by S.M. Entertainment.
They were formed in Seoul,
South Korea in 2011 and they have 12 members. Those 12 members are divided into two subgroups; EXO-K, who perform in Korean and EXO-M, who perform in Mandarin.
Once the group names were decided, the 12 members were introduced individually through 23 different trailers released between December 2011 and February 2012. Members Kai, Luhan, Tao and Chen were the first to be introduced and performed together for the first time at SBS's annual Gayo Daejun event on December 29, 2011.
Below are a list of all the EXO members and their most commonly used nicknames.

EXO
(in order of oldest to youngest)

EXO-K;
Suho
- Joonma (The leader of EXO and EXO-K)
Baekhyun - Beef
Chanyeol - Happy Virus
D.O. - Dyo
Kai -
Kkamjong
Sehun
- Odult

EXO-M;
Xiumin
- Boazi (steamed bun)
Luhan
- Little Deer
Kris
- Picasso
Lay
- Xing Xing
Chen
- Chen Chen
Tao
- Kung Fu Panda Tao

I love their individual voices, but I know that it's hard to remember everyone and distinguish who is who, considering there are 12 of them. They are the K-Pop group that I've recently fallen in love with. They're truly amazing and unbelievably talented. They have their own reality T.V. show called EXO's Showtime, in it you see them out on the town in their free time or in their dorm just hanging out doing random -hilarious- activities.

A Day to Remember (2003)

A Day to Remember

A great American metal core/pop punk band I've been listening to for the last year or so. I love their music, they always have a great beat, a great message, and I love Jeremy McKinnon's voice. Their albums are always amazing and I love the songs they write because of the message they get across and just how good they sound, it's my kind of music!
