Just Like You - Falling in Reverse

Song of The Month!

Just Like You
by Falling in Reverse

First of all, this song is amazing and the video is pretty funny. Ronnie Radke, the lead vocalist, has come under a lot of criticism and by default so has Falling in Reverse, but honestly I don't really care what kind of people they are - I care about what their music sounds like. Their newest album, also called Just Like You, is actually pretty good.
Anyway, that's beside the point. This song is ... actually I'm not even sure how to explain it. It's catchy and pretty sarcastic, really. Then when you get to the chorus, you get hooked and it's one of those songs that get you pumped, even though the song's kind of insulting. Then, if you watch the music video, it's pretty funny. They take the piss of The Voice, so that's always gonna be entertaining. There's also an extended version of the music video, which is a full minute longer and is pretty much just a "before the show" sort of thing. It's honestly worth listening to, because one way or another it's gonna put you in a better mood.

Do we have any Falling in Reverse fans out there?

Flashback Friday

Flashback Friday!

Hey Ya!
by OutKast

This isn't very old, but considering how quickly music changes and what was once popular becomes long forgotten, I figured it was about time I all remind you of a song that everyone I know has listened to at least once. If you've heard anything by OutKast, you have to have heard this song. Billboard even named it the 20th most successful song of the 2000s decade in the U.S.
Have you ever heard the phrase "shake it like a Polaroid picture?" Well, this song was actually what made it popular. In the video there's a live performance by a band, all of which's members are actually played by Andre 3000. The video is very eccentric and unique, much like the song itself, and makes the whole thing a roller coaster of fun and weirdness.
It's a very catchy song and honestly just a very fun upbeat thing to listen to. It definitely lightens the mood. If you've heard it before, I hope you're enjoying it again, but if you've never heard it before I hope you now love OutKast - which you should.
Did anyone else love singing this on SingStar, or is that just me?

Eventually, Logan calls her to the highest part of her being and Max becomes his samurai as the pair takes on the ruthless power-brokers of the new millennium. Max and Logan's odyssey leads them closer to the secret of her past, deepening and complicating their relationship in the process." - written by Ronos.

Dark Angel has been one of my family's favourite shows ever since I can remember. It's an amazing show with a very interesting plot and many interesting characters. I think it's one of the best shows ever made, but - just like Firefly - was cancelled before it got to have all the development it deserved. With famous faces like Jessica Alba, Michael Weatherly and Jensen Ackles, Dark Angel is definitely a must-see TV series, if you ask me. The series has even been rated 4.7/5 on Amazon, 8.8/10 on TV.com and 7.4/10 on IMDB. Anyway, Dark Angel is action-packed, filled with a lot of very entertaining storylines and some pretty hilarious one-liners, too.

Main Characters:

Max Guevara
played by Jessica Alba

Logan Cale/Eyes Only

played by Michael Weatherly

Cynthia "Original Cindy" McEachin
played by Valerie Rae Miller

Calvin "Sketchy" Theodore

played by Richard Gunn

Reagan "Normal" Ronald

played by J. C. MacKenzie

Herbal Thought

played by Alimi Ballard

Kendra Maibaum

played by Jennifer Blanc

Col. Donald Lydecker

played by John Savage

Alec McDowell

played by Jensen Ackles

Ames White

played by Martin Cummins

Joshua

played by Kevin Durand

Asha Barlow

If you're looking for a new show, but don't really like anything that's out right now, give Dark Angel a go. I can honestly tell you right now if you like any futuristic/fantasy shows, you're gonna love this.

Stressed Out - Twenty One Pilots

Song of The Month!

Stressed Out
by Twenty One Pilots

I first heard of Twenty One Pilots last year, which is sad, really. I wish I'd known them earlier. They're music is amazing! They only have two members; Tyler Joseph, who is the lead vocals, pianist and songwriter (among other things - the dude is insanely talented!) and Josh Dun, who plays drums (and reminds me of Jon Bernthal). The band was formed in 2009 and currently have four albums out, one of which only came out in May this year.
This song is from their newest album, Blurryface. This is a brilliant song from a brilliant album, which I think everyone should check out. Anyway, if you wanna buy the album, you can buy it on iTunes here.

Sorry for so few posts this month again and hopefully the Dwarf will be able to post again some day soon.

Flashback Friday

Flashback Friday!

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

Hey guys! Flashback Friday time, today I will be writing about Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. This here is a game and a half, an absolute classic! This game was the beginning of the Oddworld series. The original Abe's Oddysee came out in 1997 on the PS1 and PC, a series that sadly have not made many games lately. Their HD re-make of Abe's Oddysee - Abe's New and Tasty - came out late last year and truly does live up to the original game standards. It was kept mostly the same, but they added some new features, which make the game a little easier to play. One of these are a check point system. Although this may take away from the over all difficultly of the game itself, it makes the game more enjoyable to play and you're less likely to rage quit after dying over and over again on that one hard part you can't get past because you need to keep re-starting the entire level, which in my opinion makes the game a lot better.
In this game you play as Abe, a floor-waxer at RaptureFarms - a meat processing factory, which is losing money, because all their products are going extinct. This is where Abe's boss "Mullock the Gulkkon" comes up with the idea to turn Abe's fellow Mudokon slaves into tasty treats, in a last-ditch effort to save his dying company. Abe over hears this, and after receiving a vision  from "Big Face" (actual name, no joke), he goes on a mission to save the Mudokons and the other life forms on the world. After venturing through some rather hardcore levels, you eventually get to the boss level, where you finally get to fight Mullock.

Day of the Dead - Hollywood Undead

Song of The Month!

Day of the Dead
by Hollywood Undead

First of all, I'm really sorry for not posting much this month. It's been a hard month here for me, so I haven't been able to post myself and the others have been quite busy. I will be back to posting as much as possible from next week onward.
In any case, Hollywood Undead recently released their new album Day of the Dead. Due to this, I figured I should share this amazing song with you. If you liked the previous post we did on them, I'm sure you'll enjoy listening to their new songs, too.
Anyway, it's a very catchy song, so you should definitely at least give it a go! I will be posting a band review on Hollywood Undead some time soon, not sure when, so if you like their songs, but don't know much about them yet, keep an eye out! I hope you all enjoy this song and check out their new album!

Boom - P.O.D

Song of The Month!

Boom
by P.O.D

Alright, first off, sorry it's me again. The Dwarf couldn't do the Song of The Month this month, so I'm doing it instead, again.
Anyway, this month I've decided to do Boom by P.O.D as the SoTM, though in all honesty it isn't one of my favourite songs. I've just had it stuck in my head for about a week...
SO, if I have to go down this deep dark rabbit hole, I'm gonna take a few of you with me.
Boom is actually pretty old, having been released in 2002, but a lot of the people I know still remember it. Honestly, I only remembered it because of the video, so check it out. For some reason my brothers have been playing this a lot lately, hence me getting it stuck in my head, so I just had to share it.
It's not a bad song, but I've never really seen why everyone thought it was so good either... I still think it's worth a listen.
Anyone else remember this song, or the video?

Beserk

Berserk is a classic anime created by Kentaro Miura. Set in a fantasy medieval Europe, it follows the characters Guts, an orphaned mercenary and Griffith, the charismatic leader of a mercenary group called the Band of the Hawk. It shows you how Guts hunts demon like creatures called Apostles and how he and his band of warriors fight a long war that has devastated the country of Midland. The anime has a slightly dark story and is aimed at an older audience, making it a seinen manga, but it is very interesting to watch.

The series has an amazingly well done plot, which keeps you interested from start to finish and character depth that leaves you wishing all anime was done the same way. If you like action anime, then Beserk is the anime for you. Even people who don't particularly like anime have said that Beserk is one of the best made anime in existence and is definitely worth a try, so give it a go.

Bleach

Bleach

We haven't done any reviews on anime yet, as far as I remember, but since we watch that too... I'm going to kick off with one of the first anime I ever watched; Bleach.

Bleach is an anime series, based on the manga of the same name by Tite Kubo. Basically, it's about a guy called Ichigo Kurosaki who has always been able to see ghosts. It starts out where he's just a normal teenager, who occasionally helps ghosts in his free time, but otherwise, he lives a pretty average life.

Unfortunately - or fortunately, depending on how you look at it - one day, a bad spirit (called a Hallow) manages to track him to his home, where it then attacks his family. A Soul Reaper, or Shinigami, named Rukia Kuchiki comes to save them - but only after discovering that Ichigo already has a natural ability to see the dead. In the fight, she is severely injured trying to protect Ichigo from the Hollow, so she is unable to fight. So, in order to save them all, Rukia offers to give him half of her powers, which would make him a substitute Soul Reaper - and supposedly just strong enough to defeat the Hollow. Unexpectedly, he is much more powerful than she had anticipated and takes almost all of her power.

From there, the story follows how she recovers from her loss of power and Ichigo proves himself as a Soul Reaper.

Obviously, that's just the basics of how it started. A LOT more happens and there are some other pretty epic characters that you meet throughout the series, but like all anime, there is too much to explain in one little review.
In any case, Bleach is one of the most popular anime ever released - right up there with Naruto and One Piece - making it one of the anime you sorta have to watch, or at least know about. Although the series lost some quality, later on, it's still one of the most watched anime ever.

Some people might say it's not worth watching, but I would have to disagree. Although it didn't always make sense or have the best arcs, it still had some amazing characters and themes that really are worth watching it for. Plus, it has some pretty hilarious moments and all the characters are BADASS.

Seriously, if you're looking for an anime to watch and you haven't already watched it, watch Bleach. It's not the best, I'll admit, but it's still definitely worth watching and will make you appreciate it, despite some of the less appealing qualities it has.

You should all at least give the first season a go!

Serenity (2005)

Serenity (2005)

Movie Information:

"The crew of the spaceship Serenity is getting desperate. They have lain lower and lower to protect their doctor, Simon Tam, and his telepathic traumatized little sister, River, from the alliance, whom he rescued her from a year earlier. This has made getting jobs harder and now they are desperate. When they take River on a robbery during which Reavers (humans who have gone crazy and turned into cannibals) attack, Simon decides that its time to leave the crew of the Serenity for his and River's safety. She then mutters "Miranda" and goes berserk and nearly shoots Capt. Malcolm Reynolds, until her brother says the safety word to put her to sleep. Reynolds decides to take them back on board for safety, only now an alliance operative is on their tracks and making Reynolds determined to find out what "Miranda" is and what the Alliance is hiding." - Written byUbernoob

My Review:
Since I did a review on the Firefly TV series, I thought it was appropriate to do a review on the movie, which is sort of a conclusion to the series.
I love the movie, though there are some parts that were shocking and sad. It's a brilliant ending, that shows you how it all began and why the government were messing with River's brain, while still staying focused on the crew. If you liked the Firefly series, but have never watched the movie, you definitely should. It brings some of the closure that the cancellation of the series unfortunately took away from us.

If you get emotionally attached to shows easily, get out your Kleenex because there are definitely some parts that pull at the heart strings.

Otherwise, I thought the movie was brilliant. It shows you the background and it answers a lot of questions, while taking you on a roller coaster of action and intensity. It still had some funny moments, but the movie was definitely more serious than the TV show. I would still recommend it to everyone, though.
Some of the most badass fight scenes I've ever seen are in this movie, which is just all the more reason to watch it. Just remember that it's generally rated PG-13 because of some violent scenes and sexual references.

It's definitely worth the watch, so check it out!
